Hospitality has been a tradition in my family for three generations. This year, 2012, marks the 54th year the Ramseys have been in business. Throughout the years, we have had resorts in Rochester and Portsmouth, New Hampshire; South Burlington, Vermont; and York and Ogunquit, Maine. Different Ramseys have owned and operated these resorts, each happy to make their own mark in the industry.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of The Anchorage being owned and operated by my own family, the Michael Ramseys. To us, it seems like just yesterday that the blizzard of 1978 posed a challenge for us as we built the first phase of The Anchorage By the Sea in Ogunquit. The late 1970s were challenging times for us. Double-digit inflation and interest rates, as well as gas rationing, made news headlines. Yet we never lost our focus to see The Anchorage built as we intended. Today, our vision, commitment, hard work, and wonderful staff of dedicated employees have paid off and we still aim to please and guarantee that our customers are the key to our continued success.
We thank both our employees and guests over the years for their support. A highlight this year is the completion of a three-year phase of extensive remodeling of 204 of our guestrooms. This is a terrific time for guests to see our new look.
